The dangerous work has been defined as work by its nature or circumstances it is carried out, is likely to harm the health, safety or morals of children.

The authorized work for children are activities of family aid after school. Young workers are designed as persons under 18 who have reached the access minimum age for labour at age 14 in Côte d'Ivoire . ILO recommends age 16.

Basic definitions

The ILO Convention N° 138 deals with the minimum age for admission of labor.
 
The Convention C138 from ILO deals with the minimum age for admission of wage. On the minimum age of 14 years old, ILO allows the signatory country to fix the minimum age.
 
The Convention C182 from ILO deals with the worst forms of child labour. ILO allows each Member State , for each sector of activity, to define the list of forbidden and worst forms of child labour.
 
Côte d'Ivoire has signed and ratified both above-mentioned conventions since February 7, 2003. Their compliance supposes an agreement on the definition of the basic concepts that are included, i.e., “child”, child labour, worst forms of child labour, dangerous labour.
 
The notion of child is defined at the article 2 of Convention C 182 from ILO on the elimination of worst forms of child labor: “the term child shall apply to all persons under age of 18.”
 
For the notion of abusive child labour, this is the labour that by its nature and/or the conditions in which it is taken place, harms, abuses, and exploits the child or takes out his education.
 
The definition of worst forms of child labour is that is defined at the article 3 of the Convention C182 from ILO. This convention explains that: « … the term the worst forms of child labour comprises:
  
All forms of slavery or practices similar to slavery…
  
The use, procuring or offering of a child for prostitution, for the production of pornography or pornographic performances;
  
The use, procuring or offering of a child for illicit activities, in particular for the production and trafficking of drugs…
  
Work which, by its nature or the circumstances in which it is carried out, is likely to harm the health, safety or morals of children.
