Prime Minister of Cote d'Ivoire |
|
Message of Prime Minister of Cote d'Ivoire |
In a general environment of poverty, illiteracy and ignorance, inside Côte d’Ivoire as well as in the neighbourhood countries, trafficking and exploitation of the child are increasing in a shocking manner.
Child is an invaluable asset. He must be supported, protected and subject of a meticulous attention.
Aware of the place of children in the development of the nation, the Government of Cote d’Ivoire was committed to build a suitable policy to address trafficking and worst forms of child labour. |

Excecutive Secretary for cocoa Certification |
|
Message of Excecutive Secretary for cocoa Certification |
Child labour, dominant means of training, therefore, of transmission of know-how, is more and more diverted from its socializing function to become a source of exploitation of the child, against his childhood.
For that reason, we must act effectively on the ground to create a constructive environment for his achievement. |

Strategy of Governement |
|
Child labour in cocoa farming is a development, culture and survival issue, but not slavery.
It is a very complex issue that concerns Cote d'Ivoire at the highest level.
The government of Cote d'Ivoire works to strengthen the remediation actions and especially to make sure that they follow from diagnostic surveys conducted. All efforts must be capitalized and the Government of Cote d'Ivoire will look after it.
The fight led by the senators Harkin and Sanders and the representative Engel, across the protocol, is in the right line of the preferences of the government of the Cote d'Ivoire. |
